West Sand Island - Summer 2020

West Sand Island is in Baker Bay at the mouth of the Columbia River.
 
This project is planned for summer 2020.

• It will reconnect 100 acres of floodplain habitat
• 23 new tidal channels will be excavated
• 65 acres of invasive vegetation will be treated
• Over 17,000 native shrubs and trees will be planted

Early morning barge transportation to West Sand Island. The barge was carrying three excavators, two marookas, a skid steer, crane mats (swamp mats), a UTV, ESC BMP’s, and a fuel trailer.
