South Bachelor Island Restoration
Location: Strip of land to the west of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge
CREST partnered with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife to complete the South Bachelor Island Restoration project in 2019. The project removed 120,000 cubic yards of dredge material sands, creating a new ½ mile long channel from a floodplain wetland to the Columbia River, opening 40 acres of important floodplain habitat for full outmigrating juvenile salmon use that will increase their survivability odds on their way to the open ocean. Project partners: Bonneville Power Administration US Fish and Wildlife Service Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Washington Department of Natural Resources |
