Tom Josephson, Habitat Restoration Program Manager

Tom Josephson leads the Habitat Restoration Program at CREST. He is responsible for overseeing the implementation of habitat restoration projects, assisting the project managers, and managing funding for the projects. He spends a good amount of time working with funders and partner agencies to identify and team up on restoration projects. “One of the most rewarding aspects of working at CREST is the ability to manage a restoration project from conceptual design all the way to implementation. Being able to see the project implemented on the ground and producing immediate habitat benefits is extremely rewarding.”
Prior to becoming the Program Manager, Tom was a project manager with CREST, implementing 17 restoration projects in the Lower Columbia River estuary over 8 years. He has crafted strong partnerships with both public land agencies and private landowners. His passion for the outdoors finds him outside year-round, helping with everything from collecting field data to fish salvage.
Tom earned his undergraduate degree in Environmental Education from Western Washington University, and his graduate degree in Environmental Planning from the University of Hawai‛i. Prior to joining the CREST team in 2011, he volunteered with a variety of environmental organizations, and worked as a Conservation Planner and a Groundwater Science Technician with The Nature Conservancy. Tom is excited to keep building on all of the successful projects that CREST has completed and to continue to restore valuable floodplain habitat in the Lower Columbia River.
