Kyle Purdy, Habitat Restoration Biologist
Kyle joined the monitoring department in early 2024 as a Field Technician, later that year he moved into the Habitat Restoration Biologist position. He brings experience in field data collection from past work as a marine fisheries observer and other nearshore fisheries study positions. After also working as a cook and bread baker professionally he is happy to be back in nature and working as a scientist again.
He works closely with Narayan, the department lead, to collect data and monitor many tidal wetland restoration sites along the Columbia River. Since joining the team, he has gained experience with Real Time Kinematic survey (RTK) equipment and has become a certified remote drone pilot.
He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in Marine Fisheries Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Personal ProfileKyle moved to Oregon from Southern California in 2013. He likes to appreciate the natural beauty of the area by hiking, cycling and mushroom foraging with friends. When the rain comes, he may be indoors tinkering on bikes or on the piano.
